There’s never been any question in Sean Tucker’s mind that he’d do whatever it took to make it to the major leagues and be one of the best pitchers of his time. The day he acknowledged to himself that he was gay was also the day he vowed to stay in the closet in order to chase his dreams. The problem is, he never counted on Mason Atley.
Sean showed rookie short stop Mason Atley the ropes, both on the field and off. The two forged a friendship which continued as both of them moved through the ranks of the farm system and into the majors. Unfortunately, there’s always been one secret Mason never felt he could share with Sean. Until now.
For seven years, Sean lived with the fact that he loved a man who would never reciprocate. When Mason admits that he’s always known he’s bisexual but has never allowed himself to pursue a relationship with a man, will Sean be able to put aside his reservations about starting a relationship with the friend he’d always assumed was straight? And more importantly, will they be able to find a way to stay together when their careers keep them apart more than they can be together?
What readers are saying
Sean and Mason’s story is one of longing, secrecy, and a family who is amazingly accepting. It was wonderful how supportive of Abi Mason was and how he seemed to always calm down Sean. Also loved how they had their problems just like straight books and were able to work through them. –Jaimie
I loved this story! I haven’t read many books where the characters are involved in sports especially in this genre. Mason and Sean’s story is a beautiful one and I was hooked in from the start. I was emotional invested in them and was pulling for them. It’s not an easy road for either of them. Sean was very supportive and kept Mason grounded when he wanted to jump into things too quickly. It could have been because of his insecurities but also didn’t want to go too fast. As a couple they are sexy, sweet and funny. –Two Book Pushers
This is the first book I have read by Sloan Johnson and I must say I really enjoyed it. The characters where definitely loveable, right down to Mason’s parents and Sean’s sister. There are quite a few comical moments throughout the book, adding to the seriousness of the couple’s tense circumstances. It was a book that kept me wanting more right till the end, even then I wanted to know what happened next. I look forward to reading other books by this author. –Joanna, Summer’s Book Blog
